Career and College Day

Career and College Day at Gunston echoes the tenets of AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) - it represents the focus of instilling college and coareer-ready mindsets with students so they can begin to create an environment for their development of higher education and diverse career paths.  Students were able to consider different careers as members of the community shared their occupations and experiences.  College posters with information about what each offered were also shared with students.

Volunteers were able to broaden students' awareness of the world around them and inspire them.  Students took notes and in small groups chatted with a photographer, a biologist, a scientist, a graphic designer, an investigative journalist, members of the fire and police departments and more.
