Veterans Day 2024
Every year at Gunston Elementary, we are honored to celebrate veterans. After a delicious breakfast in the cafeteria surrounded by student created banners, we usher our community veterans outside to chairs of honor. Speeches, memories, patriotic music and singing rounded out the ceremony. Our guest speaker, a former Gunston Eagle herself, now very active in the Coast Guard presented a heartfelt speech. She reminded students about the oath that members of the military take and the seriousness of the vow. She also asked students to read the US Constitution with their families as homework. This year the weather cooperated and it was a beautiful day allowing for a special sky visit from a Coast Guard helicoptor.

Students were somber and polite as the flags were presented.
