Early Release Mondays at Gunston

The Early Release Mondays planned throughout the school year for elementary schools are essential to allow educators time for planning and professional development. Students will be dismissed 3 hours early seven times throughout the school year and are encouraged to return home via their normal route.

Career and College Day

Career and College Day at Gunston echoes the tenets of AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) - it represents the focus of instilling college and career-ready mindsets with students so they can begin to create an environment for their development of higher education and diverse career paths. Students are able to consider different careers as members of the community share their occupations and experiences. College posters with information about what each offers are also shared with students.

Dance Extravaganza

March 12, 2025
All the students in the school spent the day dancing and doing gymnastics for parents in our annual Dance Extravaganza. They used sticks and poles and mats. Parents even joined in on some of the fun. It was an event that showcased teamwork, coordination and fun.

Stem Night 2025

March 06, 2025
STEM night at Gunston is aways a hit and this year was no different. Starting with a Pizza sale by the sixth graders and KONA slushie truck option for dinner, families rotated around the school to try out STEM related activities and have a bit of fun. It was rounded out by the Science Fair in the gym along with a few STEM vendors and organizations sharing their wares.

School Bus Safety Program Update

Cameras have been installed on the stop arms of 50 of our school buses. Our law enforcement partners are working with us to improve road safety and reduce accidents.

FCPS Annual Prom Dress Shop Opens at Centreville High School With Hundreds of Dresses

Students from Centreville High School and the Fair Oaks Classroom on the Mall program will open their annual Prom Dress Shop, which provides attire to economically disadvantaged students, on Friday, March 7 at 5 p.m. at Centreville High School.
