What is a Family Liaison?

I am the person at the school who:

  • Serves as the link between home and school.
  • Help parents get the information and assistance they need to support their children at home and to ensure their children's success in school.
  • Encourages family engagement in children’s education and connects families to what their children are learning.
  • Builds relationships with and among families, staff members, and community members. Connects families to resources in the community.
  • Welcomes and orients families who are new to the school and community, and help them understand the school's culture, policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Promotes understanding of families’ cultural diversity.
  • Ensures families feel welcomed, trusted, and valued by the school.

Here Comes the Bus/Buses and Delays

As we settle into our routines at the start of the school year a helpful app parents of bus riders is the Here Comes the Bus mobile app. Use code 28982 when registering for Here Comes the Bus.

If a student’s bus is delayed, parents may access the Bus Delay Notification System.

The app tracks the bus route, not the student.

Sometimes we make bus substitutions and this can affect the accuracy of the Here Comes the Bus® app.  When a bus substitution is made, the Here Comes the Bus® app may not work.

Please note that no bus tracking service is 100 percent accurate; DO NOT assume the bus is not coming just because the app did not notify you!  If in doubt about the arrival of a bus, please contact the Transportation office that supports your child's school.

You must have your SIS ParentVUE Account information in order to use the app.  If you need your SIS Parent Account information,

you must contact your child's school.  Transportation staff will NOT be able to provide this information to you.  Depending on your cell provider and

coverage strength, notifications may be delayed due to bad cell phone reception.

Business Partners:

If you are a business owner or work for a business that would be willing to sponsor one of our monthly parent coffees, please reach out to me, I would love to partner with you.  We would love both areas of expertise to be shared with our families and/or buying coffee and donuts for those who attend our meetings.

Engaging in meaningful conversations:

When asking your child about his/her day, think about asking a specific question, change the word in the blank daily to get your child thinking about different feelings and looking at their day from a different perspective.  Consider sharing about your day before you ask about theirs,

What was the _____ part of your day?

This question lets you change up the word every day so your child can get comfortable with speaking on any topic.

Sample words to fill in the blank:

  • best
  • most challenging
  • funniest
  • boring
  • shocking
  • most exciting
